Puppy Love

I know I've probably said this before, but I really love this dog. It's kind of strange, being a cat person and everything, but it is so hard not to fall in love with the little guy. And look how photogenic he is!! Roland loves the camera, and the camera loves him. Unfortunately, we have to watch the Dog Whisperer a lot because this handsome doggy thinks he has to dominate the neighborhood on walks. Nobody likes having to drag a snarling, drooling beast away from a dog five times his size, especially when that dog looks like he's ready to charge us. But hopefully with training and Cesar Milan reruns, we'll get that barking in the bag.

A Little Bit Warm Out Here...

It's beginning to feel a lot like summer.... certainly a hot day to work outside!

Cats and Dogs

Update on Sassy (speaking of cats) : Not under the bed so much, but still refuses to come out past the hallway. Roland still has the upperhand. Not fur long.

Garden Progress, Brief Absence, and Canine-caused Feline Friction

Bonjour once again, faithful Coral Reef Islanders! Making good progress on my summer garden (I can already see sprouts a few days early!), and on my 100 posts (and for those who have figured out that it's too late to do just one post a day to meet my deadline, I have a solution. It's called try-to-sneak-more-than-one-post-in-a-day, which becomes even more difficult when I announce that I will be gone on a trip for like four days, and hence won't be posting. But, in the end, the brains will triumph.

In more depressing news, a VI member of my family has recently become a hermit. I'm not even kidding. Sassy will disappear so far underneath my bed that I can't even tell that she's down there (although that may be partially attributed to the fact that under my bed has "under the bed" syndrome, meaning it's slightly cluttered). The reason for her recent hermithood consists of four words: dog and dog's mother. Aka Roland and his mother Lily (or Lilly). They apparently have decided that they want to be the Bosses of the House, and Sassy stood in their way. So, doing as misled chihuahuas do, they barked that cat to the far recesses of the house, which to her was under my bed. Yay. She does, however, come out at night and occasionally during the day, though never goes farther than the bedrooms.  I have noticed that she has become (when she's not under my bed) even more docile and needy, and now even lays on my lap and everything. Needless to say, she has come a long way from the hiss-and-scratch Humane Society resident that she had been some five years ago.

Anchors Away, Big Plans (again), New in Organization Oasis, and Final Goodbyes

Is that an anchor I spy on your sweater? Are you following the nautical trend? Really, Roland.

Haven't been on for about a week due to many events going on, but here I am again. Hope the Mother's Day ideas helped someone out, but I know there are a few people that are like, "Mother, nothing. I want that for myself!" I know I was. Anyway, I hope to have big plans for summer, so be sure to keep tunin' in.

Also, check out our latest Creature Club Member Report in Organization Oasis.

P.S. RIP, Preston.

Physiognomy of a Ferocious Canis Lupus Familiaris (try saying that ten times fast)

Cute face? Maybe. But what lies behind those big puppy eyes is something so sinister, so e-vil, that you could never begin to imagine.

Good times, bad luck

IHC was awesome!!! My favorite part was the orchestra. When I got home, I was pretty much ignored by Roland (as I figured), but Sassy was begging for attention. I didn't give her any then, because I was going to put my bags in my bedroom. When I got back there, I noticed something was wrong. Where my mirror once stood was empty. I could see vacuum tracks on my carpet. Things were just slightly out of place. I go back to the living room and asked what happened to my room, though I didn't really need to. I guessed that someone had broken my brand new mirror and replaced it with another. Turns out that Sassy had been scratching on a box that held up the mirror (though I tell her not to all the time) and my mirror fell, breaking. It apparently startled both my mother and Roland, who immediately started barking.  So I ended up with another new mirror and a total of fourteen years of bad luck. Thanks Sassy.

Trip departure, puppy eyes, and cold shoulders (not to mention sneaky cats)

I probably won't be on here until Friday because of a trip, to which I am looking forward. Only problem: what to wear!!! Anyway, you've probably noticed the title change, so tell me what you think of it. You can see the coral reefs around the island.

The worst part of the trip is knowing what is probably going to be horribly upset. It's my first trip since getting Roland, and I'm curious as to what will be going on with him. Besides that, sis's #2 and #3 are going with me, and I think he personally prefers #2 over the three of us. So it is sure to be an interesting time for him.

Sassy is used to me leaving on trips, though it seems as if she gets a little melancholy when I pull out my duffel bag. Cats can understand what that means, and they often give a cold shoulder for a while if they figure out that you're leaving them. Too bad. She probably have a ball with Tan (mon house gecko), knowing that I won't be there to stop or scold her.

I'm as cute as a creature, right?
