2012's Most Popular

Had enough fun yet? With Coral Reef Island's first year came over 100 posts, varying from holiday recipes to cat houses, crafty crafts to lizard eyes, and gift ideas to adventure-seeking golf balls. And out of those sprung Coral Reef Island's Most Popular Posts from 2012:

Fly Away Birdies

Birdhouse is doing well, but I STILL have not seen any birds in there!!! Course, it may be because I put parakeet, cockatiel, and parrot birdseed in there, and the birds visiting it would not be any of the above, but still! How picky can wild birds be?!

Also shot this beautiful butterfly which I think may be a Painted Lady. Maybe it would like a birdhouse to feed in.

You know it's fall when you see the Creature Costume Contest! That's right, it's back, and for the first time on the blog! Here's how to enter:

A New Co-blogger!

Hi, my name is Emma! I'm so excited to be one of Coral Reef Island's new co-bloggers!

I have been a member of Coral Reef Island pretty much since it began. I continue to enjoy its posts and I am looking forward to contributing posts of my own! This is the first blogging I have ever done, so it is a new experience to me, yet a good one. I feel so honored to be a part of it!

As a co-blogger, you can be sure I will enjoy contributing all sorts of posts, though you can be sure some of my favorites will be crafty, fun, or holiday posts. Yet I will be happy to contribute anything and everything for whatever need!

Finally, so you know a little more about me, I'll share what I like doing in my free time. First off, as you have read before, I enjoy crafty things! I love card making, paper crafting, knitting, and almost every other type of craft except sewing! (I still have yet to master it.) I also am quite a big reader, enjoying mystery, romance, realistic fiction, and religious fiction. Finally, I have great fun organizing, designing, and just creating in general.

Once again, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the blog, I look forward to sharing with you all in the future!

What's New?!

Hello Coral Reef Islanders!

With the start of a new year comes new changes we are excited to finally reveal. For the first time, dedicated Creature Club members will be able to guest post on Coral Reef Island! That means that if you receive a message from Coral Reef Island saying congrats, then you have been added to the coblogger membership! As of yet, there are no rules regarding what may be posted by new bloggers, unless something comes up (which is not anticipated and not expected). Anyone who views Coral Reef Island will be able to see what club members are sharing, so if you are not a member, email me at creaturelove04@aol.com to become one! To become a lucky coblogger you must A. Be a member of the Creature Club (as previously described), B. Be a member of the blog, C. Leave at least one comment, and D. Visit Coral Reef Island (the blog) regularly. So what are you waiting for? Check your mail to see if you are one of the lucky viewers!

Hey Bloggers,

Welcome to my new co-blogger! When I am unable to post, Sammy will be stepping in as a replacement. I trust we will all welcome her with open hands (and paws). Her involvement on this blog is important as it shows that she is a trusted member of the Creature faculty-family (not to mention a continuous viewer and commenter), but also because it allows her to be involved here where she can't be in other places. Anyway, enjoy the new look (the old was getting rather boring, plus it wasn't accomadated to both of our fancies), and enjoy upcoming posts (even though I have NO idea what's coming. I think I might should be worried. And no, that was not a type-o).

Also check out "Zamy Says", the new temporary segment (I say temporary because it may change over the course of this bloghood). It highlights some popular sayings and some other stuff (or should I say will).

P.S. Did you know this was the 100th post?

Blog Browsing, Golf Ball Finding

Looking for an awesome DIY fashion blog? Check icandy handmade, where you can see how to make fast and easy projects with little effort!

Also...

Where's Wilson? Wilson the Golf Ball is playing hide-and-seek with Coral Reef Islanders, and is hiding somewhere on this blog. To find her, look for her picture with the initials W.W. on it. Then, once you've discovered her hiding place, leave me a comment or email me telling me where she is. Once she's been found, she will find a new place to hide in, so you have to keep on the lookout!
"Where's Wilson" info is also at the bottom of the "Home" page, so if you want to review the info, look below!

(Hint: Wilson loves making crafts!)

Early Birds, Red Birds

Bonjour, all! This is probably the first time that I've ever posted this early, and there's a reason. It's called Sara-doesn't-like-to-get-up-early. Which isn't quite true, because I do want to get up early, but it's so very hard. Anyway, I've already been really busy this week, and it will continue like this until Friday. Huzzah for Fridays.

Greetings from your favorite golf ball, on location at Busch Stadium in St. Louis! Go Cardinals!

Garden Progress, Brief Absence, and Canine-caused Feline Friction

Bonjour once again, faithful Coral Reef Islanders! Making good progress on my summer garden (I can already see sprouts a few days early!), and on my 100 posts (and for those who have figured out that it's too late to do just one post a day to meet my deadline, I have a solution. It's called try-to-sneak-more-than-one-post-in-a-day, which becomes even more difficult when I announce that I will be gone on a trip for like four days, and hence won't be posting. But, in the end, the brains will triumph.

In more depressing news, a VI member of my family has recently become a hermit. I'm not even kidding. Sassy will disappear so far underneath my bed that I can't even tell that she's down there (although that may be partially attributed to the fact that under my bed has "under the bed" syndrome, meaning it's slightly cluttered). The reason for her recent hermithood consists of four words: dog and dog's mother. Aka Roland and his mother Lily (or Lilly). They apparently have decided that they want to be the Bosses of the House, and Sassy stood in their way. So, doing as misled chihuahuas do, they barked that cat to the far recesses of the house, which to her was under my bed. Yay. She does, however, come out at night and occasionally during the day, though never goes farther than the bedrooms.  I have noticed that she has become (when she's not under my bed) even more docile and needy, and now even lays on my lap and everything. Needless to say, she has come a long way from the hiss-and-scratch Humane Society resident that she had been some five years ago.

Hot Peppers, Hopeful Vacations, New Look, and More Reports

Ok, so I've gotten started on the "plant a garden" item on my list (finally got my habanero pepper seeds potted). Now I just have to wait for sprouts, and if there is one thing I hate doing, it's waiting. But patience is a virtue, so I won't bite off more than I can virtue. Which means, I'll be waiting.

Hopefully going to get started on Creature Vacations soon, so once again, stay tuned.

Also, there is a new craft added to Coral Reef Crafts, and you may have noticed that the Creature Blog has a new look. Be sure to rate it at the bottom of this post.

I've also noticed that someone wants to see more member reports on the poll, so I'll see what I can do. If you have a report you want to do, send it to me, and I'll see if it will be behooving to add it.

Trip departure, puppy eyes, and cold shoulders (not to mention sneaky cats)

I probably won't be on here until Friday because of a trip, to which I am looking forward. Only problem: what to wear!!! Anyway, you've probably noticed the title change, so tell me what you think of it. You can see the coral reefs around the island.

The worst part of the trip is knowing what is probably going to be horribly upset. It's my first trip since getting Roland, and I'm curious as to what will be going on with him. Besides that, sis's #2 and #3 are going with me, and I think he personally prefers #2 over the three of us. So it is sure to be an interesting time for him.

Sassy is used to me leaving on trips, though it seems as if she gets a little melancholy when I pull out my duffel bag. Cats can understand what that means, and they often give a cold shoulder for a while if they figure out that you're leaving them. Too bad. She probably have a ball with Tan (mon house gecko), knowing that I won't be there to stop or scold her.
