Caught in a Spring Thing...

Hi readers!

So, some of you might be wondering what I'm doing on the blog when I expressly mentioned previously that I have a HUGE workload. Well, I have a little friend named Procrastination. I call him tin for short. He is always hanging around. I have another little friend named Inspiration. He likes to come over when Procrastination is  around. And so that is what I'm doing on the blog. Besides that, its SPRINGTIME!!! And it's around that time that Inspiration stays for a while. So don't be surprised to see more posts coming up...

P.S. Like the new background?

Be a Friend, Welcomes, and Look For...

Hello again, Creature fans! I just realized that I haven't been on for a week (although that's not exactly true since I was on, I just hadn't posted anything) so I better get started prepping for summer. So here I go, promising things that I may or may not get around to (as I've noticed I  have a habit of doing). Creature Vacations! I need to get going on that! I'll try to post some forms or something- no wait, that might not work. How's about if you are interested on signing up your creature for a vacation, you comment below saying "I am interested in signing up my creature for a vacation", and then I can email you the forms (if I know your email). If I don't know your email, then you email me (creaturelove04@aol.com) saying that you are interested in signing up your creature for a vacation, and then I can get back to you. If you don't have a creature, then WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?!? This is the Creature Club, baby! Send me an email saying that you are interested in getting a creature, and I will get back to you. All creatures are property of Coral Reef Island and are FREE! (until I go
global)!

Also, please welcome Samantha Denise to the "Friends of Coral Reef Island" association. She, like Emma, realizes that it is important to be "a Friend of Coral Reef Island", especially if you have a creature. I mean, come on, think of all the awesome benefits you get! ?

Apparently, according to msn, today is World Oceans Day, and we all know that in oceans around the world are... does anyone have a guess? That's right, Coral Reefs! So, to celebrate, look for the special Member Report regarding the preservation of coral reefs.

Leopard Print!!

This week's fashion includes a leopard-print top belted with a silk black ribbon and a black silk skirt, which is embroidered with white hand-sewn flowers. It is topped with a leopard print flower for the hair (or plastic nub).

Also... as I promised, here is Sassy's/Madame BunBun's cardboard house.  Half of the roof opens up so that we can see what she's doing, and it has windows that you can see through.

Fly Away Birdies

Birdhouse is doing well, but I STILL have not seen any birds in there!!! Course, it may be because I put parakeet, cockatiel, and parrot birdseed in there, and the birds visiting it would not be any of the above, but still! How picky can wild birds be?!
Also shot this beautiful butterfly which I think may be a Painted Lady. Maybe it would like a birdhouse to feed in.

Tweetin' Sweet Bottle Birdhouse

What could be more perfect than a birdhouse for May day? It's fun, fast, and easy to make too. Just take a juice bottle (like juicy juice), cut a large hole in the front for birds to get in through, and another hole for  a thin dowel. It will serve as a perch inside and outside the birdhouse. Then, paint it how you want it, and once it dries, coat it with a water-glue solution, which will (hopefully) waterproof it and keep the paint safe from cracking and running. Once the first coat dries, it may be a good idea to apply a second coat, just to be safe. Fill with birdseed, hang from a string, and watch the birds come flying!

Creature Storytime

I am sooo excited because in two (saturday, sunday) days is the Titanic's 100th anniversary of its sinking. It is such a tragic story, and I feel myself pulled into it. It is even sadder when you hear the song "My Heart Will Go On". It makes me want to bawl.

Story-time!

One day, Zamy was cleaning the house. (For those who don't know, Zamy Villaine, pronounced Zam-E Vill- aine, is a human who adopted Creature, which is not to say your basic, everyday creature, but her name is actually Creature, and she is a creature.) Anyway, Zamy was cleaning the house, and when she fininshed, she realized that she hadn't seen Creature around lately. She asked Puppy (another adoptee, but this one's a dog) if he had seen Creature. "Uhhmmm, yeah. I tink she was floating around in the pikshur on that wall," Puppy points to the above picture, which was hanging on the wall in their living room (For those who don't know, Puppy is three, and that explains why his grammar is off. Besides that, he just likes annoying people with his bad grammar. Creature is two, and that explains her speech. She, however, is not a booger like Puppy, and therefore does not enjoy annoying people like Puppy does).  Zamy shakes her head, and keeps looking for Creature. Finally, though, she is forced to examine the picture more closely. Sure enough, she could just make out Creature, swimming blissfully in a clear, blue lagoon. Zamy rubs her eyes. When she opens them, she jumps back in shock, for now  Creature's face occupied the entire picture frame.  "Bon-jourey!" she squeaks, and pops out of the picture. Once Zamy revives, she exclaims, "What in the world do you think you were doing!?! You CANNOT go jumping into pictures! That's... impossible. I. M. P. O. S. S. I. B. L. E. "
Puppy giggles hysterically, and whispers something to Creature. Creature gets a confused expression on her face and asks, "What's imposseeboll?"
"Impossible, Creature (and Puppy), means that it can't be happening. It's not possible."
"It can too happen, Zamy. I just did it!" And with that, Creature jumps back onto the white sand, and would've jumped in the water, had Zamy not plunged her hand in and pulled Creature back out.
"Stop that, Creature! I don't want you getting lost in there!" But as she's saying that, Puppy leaps into the picture, runs down the beach, and slips on a coconut, all while laughing hysterically. Zamy drops her head in frustration, looks up at the ceiling, and then goes to get a glass of water. It's just another day living with Creature and Puppy...

Make your own any-occasion card

Recently, I've gotten tired of store- bought cards. They don't express you as much as hand-made cards can. So, I decided to start doing my own cards using paint as my medium. First, I cut a regular piece of paper in half, then folded each half in half. I also used notecards to give a layer effect.  Then, I painted the front side of the paper in a gradient or pattern with a large brush. This way, the front of the card won't be too busy. The notecard held the details and actual pictures. I lightly dabbed the background with watered-down paint, then dabbed at the paint with a napkin. That ensured a soft depth.  This was done with a smaller brush.  Tempera paint dries quickly if there's not a lot of paint on an area, so once I was done with the notecard, the paper was already pretty much dry. While the notecard dried, I wrote the message inside the card. Then, it was time to go over the notecard with markers. As shown, using markers after painting can elaborate on the details and even correct some painting errors.
Some details can be outlined, and I drew in the eye and beak on the bird. After everything had dried, I double-sided the tape, and attached the notecards to the corresponding cards. And... voila! I'm done. These cards can be made for any occassion, and with the right patterns and pastel colors, they make good Spring Greetings cards. Add a chick or a bunny to finish it off.  Receivers of the cards can remove the notecards to use as bookmarks, or trade them between friends.
