Late "Spring" Cleaning, Early Summer Planning (and a little summer complaining as well)

Bonjour! You can definitely tell it's summer around here, folks. Highs in the 80s, sweat pouring off of you when you go outside for 5 minutes, and my ever-favorite sign... NO HOMEWORK. No research papers, mile-long readings, or transiting to campus every day. Life really is good after all ;) .

And since I have been blessed with this blessed free time (as long as it lasts, which soon won't be for long), I have decided to make use of my crafty inclinations and DO SOMETHING CRAFTY. Which you will get to see in my next post (easy does it though. it's a bit of a STICKY situation :) ).

For now though,  I have selected some random images for your delightful amusement.  They consist of Sassy deterring and/or halting me from my albeit late "spring" cleaning, which I accomplished (thank my spotless floors!) over the course of the day yesterday (you can tell from the mess underneath her *ahem*, slightly plump cat body, just how bad it was getting. A few (full) scattered notebooks, select college textbooks (a shoutout to that painfully bulky Educational Psychology monster in the left image), and torn/bent/over-worked folders complete the look my bedroom has been styling since, say, about last week or so. Maybe the week before, who knows. And that isn't even all the mess. But anyway, it is oh-so-good to be back on blogging, and hopefully bringing more bloggity goodness to Coral Reef fans everywhere. :)

P.S. She's laying on what used to be my drawer liner. Got to find a way to get that to stay secured...

Breaking News (that cat again), Bad Notes and Lack of Growths, and Cool Blogs

Bonjour! Breaking news to crazy cat fans! There has been a reported sighting of the under-the-bed dweller to the extended regions of living room! Also known as Sassy-finally-emerged-to-the-living-room! Even though it was only once. For about five minutes. But still.  She won't be happy to find out that Lilly's back...

Anywaaay... hope everyone had a good fourth of july. I must say that this week is sure to be a busy one.  And for all those interested in Creature Vacations, you can see different ideas for destination choices in the poll, though they are but a few of the possibilities.

As for my summer to-do list, I am making some progress. I am  currently learning "Clair de lune" on the piano and it is not an easy piece.  This is due to the fact that there are four or five flats, then a couple pages in (there are six pages), they change to sharps, then back to flats a page later. But I shall press on. The keys, that is.

Garden is still growing, minus the habanero peppers. I deeply regret to inform you (and myself, as I refuse to let them die such a cold and brutal death) that they are pushing up daisies rather than sprouts. But on the sunny side (which rotates with the clock), my other flowers are growing quite nicely, as well as the weeds that grow beside them (I find it increasingly difficult to tell the difference between the two).

And as for the attempted endurance per the bicycle, I realized today that I have enough endurance for three minutes, but I fall considerably short for my hopeful goal of three miles (someone find me a workout that works in two months!).

My bedroom got redecorated Saturday, but when I say redecorated, I mean I over-decored with a rating in the negatives. And no, it's not due to my obsessive recycling. It's due to my ever-reducing personal space. And to my ever-increasing cat space. Why need nine lives? Her best one is obviously now (and no, she doesn't read Joel Osteen. She'd have to find a new home).

Broken hearts on discontinued blogs... braids and brown boots, where did you go?! and happy hearts on new-found blogs (check them out in my blog list)- gotta love that bakerella!

Cats and Dogs

Update on Sassy (speaking of cats) : Not under the bed so much, but still refuses to come out past the hallway. Roland still has the upperhand. Not fur long.

Garden Progress, Brief Absence, and Canine-caused Feline Friction

Bonjour once again, faithful Coral Reef Islanders! Making good progress on my summer garden (I can already see sprouts a few days early!), and on my 100 posts (and for those who have figured out that it's too late to do just one post a day to meet my deadline, I have a solution. It's called try-to-sneak-more-than-one-post-in-a-day, which becomes even more difficult when I announce that I will be gone on a trip for like four days, and hence won't be posting. But, in the end, the brains will triumph.

In more depressing news, a VI member of my family has recently become a hermit. I'm not even kidding. Sassy will disappear so far underneath my bed that I can't even tell that she's down there (although that may be partially attributed to the fact that under my bed has "under the bed" syndrome, meaning it's slightly cluttered). The reason for her recent hermithood consists of four words: dog and dog's mother. Aka Roland and his mother Lily (or Lilly). They apparently have decided that they want to be the Bosses of the House, and Sassy stood in their way. So, doing as misled chihuahuas do, they barked that cat to the far recesses of the house, which to her was under my bed. Yay. She does, however, come out at night and occasionally during the day, though never goes farther than the bedrooms.  I have noticed that she has become (when she's not under my bed) even more docile and needy, and now even lays on my lap and everything. Needless to say, she has come a long way from the hiss-and-scratch Humane Society resident that she had been some five years ago.

Ligeia Jr. Presents/ Madame BunBun's New Pad

 Ligeia Jr. Presents...

Leopard Print!!

This week's fashion includes a leopard-print top belted with a silk black ribbon and a black silk skirt, which is embroidered with white hand-sewn flowers. It is topped with a leopard print flower for the hair (or plastic nub).

Also... as I promised, here is Sassy's/Madame BunBun's cardboard house.  Half of the roof opens up so that we can see what she's doing, and it has windows that you can see through.

Madame BunBuns Has House

Yay! I have finally found a pattern for my zebra-print dress (it's AH-DORABLE!!!) , so hopefully I can get started on it soon. Just recently, I have started work on Madame BunBuns' (aka Sassy's) house which my mother made, but is having me paint, and I must say, is the cutest thing ever made from cardboard. Hopefully I can post a picture of it completed soon. She also has a cardboard car that sis #2 and I worked on a long time ago. House, car- that cat has it all!

Sassy's not the only one with a car...

Good times, bad luck

IHC was awesome!!! My favorite part was the orchestra. When I got home, I was pretty much ignored by Roland (as I figured), but Sassy was begging for attention. I didn't give her any then, because I was going to put my bags in my bedroom. When I got back there, I noticed something was wrong. Where my mirror once stood was empty. I could see vacuum tracks on my carpet. Things were just slightly out of place. I go back to the living room and asked what happened to my room, though I didn't really need to. I guessed that someone had broken my brand new mirror and replaced it with another. Turns out that Sassy had been scratching on a box that held up the mirror (though I tell her not to all the time) and my mirror fell, breaking. It apparently startled both my mother and Roland, who immediately started barking.  So I ended up with another new mirror and a total of fourteen years of bad luck. Thanks Sassy.

Trip departure, puppy eyes, and cold shoulders (not to mention sneaky cats)

I probably won't be on here until Friday because of a trip, to which I am looking forward. Only problem: what to wear!!! Anyway, you've probably noticed the title change, so tell me what you think of it. You can see the coral reefs around the island.

The worst part of the trip is knowing what is probably going to be horribly upset. It's my first trip since getting Roland, and I'm curious as to what will be going on with him. Besides that, sis's #2 and #3 are going with me, and I think he personally prefers #2 over the three of us. So it is sure to be an interesting time for him.

Sassy is used to me leaving on trips, though it seems as if she gets a little melancholy when I pull out my duffel bag. Cats can understand what that means, and they often give a cold shoulder for a while if they figure out that you're leaving them. Too bad. She probably have a ball with Tan (mon house gecko), knowing that I won't be there to stop or scold her.

creepy cat habits

It's creepy how cats will just stare at you for no particular reason... that and the fact that they are also carnivores... who knows what a cat does while its owner sleeps...

Secret Genius

You know your cat is secretly a genius when you find it reading The Iliad!
